Inter-Actions is much more than a dance company—it is a creative center that combines art, education, and social participation. In my film, I accompany choreographer Edan Gorlicki and his team to bring their vision to life: dance as a unifying and creative space in society.
The Inter-Actions studio is a space for professional artists, but also for the general public. Groundbreaking new dance productions, interactive workshops, and a wide range of open-access courses are created here, bringing people together regardless of their background or experience with movement arts. One notable example is the dance therapy for refugee women, who find a safe space here to express themselves and empower themselves through movement.
At the same time, Inter-Actions is a network that connects with partners from culture, science, and urban development to strengthen dance in Heidelberg in the long term. The professionally equipped spaces enable over 80 artists to develop new productions, while low-threshold offerings such as open dance classes invite the urban community to experience dance as a form of expression.
But the future of Inter-Actions is uncertain. The film not only demonstrates the creative energy of this unique cultural space, but also the need to secure structural support for dance arts. Because dance is more than movement – it is an expression of community, identity and cultural participation.
