How do we tell stories about social and environmental crises? In this course, I help students develop their own short films and performances. The one-year project is a German-Italian-Spanish co-production within the framework of the European Cultural Foundation.
Storytelling is more than just telling stories – it makes social issues tangible, evokes emotions, and creates lasting impact. The course offered a practice-oriented introduction to narrative dramaturgy and helped participants strengthen their own artistic voice.
Particular emphasis was placed on environmental storytelling – a method that brings ecological issues to life through visual and narrative means. Inspired by Joanna Macy's "The Work That Reconnects," we explored creative techniques for artistically narrating climate change, resource scarcity, and social change.
The one-year project is a German-Italian-Spanish co-production of the organizations Raum der Künste, Mastronauta, and BrifBrafBruf within the framework of the European Cultural Foundation and the European Culture of Solidarity Fund. The international co-production resulted in short films and performances that combine artistic aesthetics with critical environmental awareness. This collaboration not only fostered the students' cinematic narrative skills but also fostered creative exchange about sustainable visions of the future.
The project will culminate in several performances in Germany and Italy. I look forward to continuing to share my knowledge through film projects, workshops, and dramaturgical consultations.
