Water Wings is being screened at the Common Goods International Film Festival in the USA, as well as at the Slemani International Film Festival and the Kobane Film Festival.
Water Wings is successfully touring international festivals. We are delighted that the film is being shown at Common Goods in the USA. About the festival: “We celebrate the work of filmmakers who tell the stories of those dedicated to the benefit of humanity.” The Slemani International Film Festival is one of the largest film festivals in the Middle East, and following the screening of Dancing with Monsters, my new film Water Wings will also be presented here.
Another wonderful project is the Kobane Film Festival: “In 2015, four years into the Syrian Civil War, the autonomous northern region of Rojava saw its first ”Rojava Film Days.“ For a week, films from all around the region and the world, such as Charlie Chaplin's ”The Kid," were screened in the six main cities of Northern Syria. From 2016 onwards, our cinema traveled throughout Rojava's villages in order to give greater access to film to people without resources and in isolated areas. Now the festival takes place in Kobane. This lively celebration of arts and cinema will take place around the themes of resistance, women, and cultural sovereignty." As a writer, director, and actress, it is wonderful for me to see that our film about friendship is reaching so many people across national and cultural boundaries.
